'Tom Clancy's The Division': Story details revealed

Tom Clancy's The Division Ubisoft

Getting closer to its targeted release date, publisher and developer Ubisoft keeps on revealing details about its upcoming first-person role-playing shooter "Tom Clancy's The Division."

In a recent interview with Xbox On, Ubisoft Massive associate creative director Julian Gerighty said that instead of a streamlined story, players will have to deal with at least three perspectives to see the entire storyline of "The Division."

Meanwhile, every mission given to players will have something to do with each of the three storylines, and completed missions will bring players closer to how the story threads intersect.

Gerighty stated, "Every mission that you do is going to be linked to one of those story threads and is going to give you a little piece of the puzzle."

Gerighty added that although there will be three different stories in the game, it will still revolve around the general plot of the title about the virus that plagued New York City, why factions fight each other, and how players can operate and fight each faction while trying to build the city.

The associate creative director said, "Once you've completed all the missions in that story thread you'll have all the pieces of the puzzle that you'll put together and get an extra piece that will give you a different perspective on the story."

Meanwhile, some chosen players themselves will get to unlock details about "The Division" much earlier than others. The beta stage for the upcoming game will start this week across all platforms. According to PC Advisor, Xbox One players will get a first crack at the title since the game's beta will go live for the Microsoft console on Jan. 28. Meanwhile, the PS4 and PC versions will start their beta stages by Jan. 29. The beta will end on all platforms at the end of the month.

"Tom Clancy's The Division" will launch for current-gen consoles and PC on March 8.
