'The Sims 4' rumors: PS4 and Xbox One versions in the works?; developers reportedly experiencing porting issues

Rumor has it that "The Sims 4" will be released on the PS4 and Xbox One and that console ports are already being worked out. Unfortunately, developers allegedly met some technical hiccups.

Media outlets are reporting that the folks in charge of porting the popular simulation game to the new-gen consoles have encountered unforeseen issues, which means that the game's purported console release could be delayed.

The developers are allegedly hoping to see "The Sims 4" up and running on the Xbox One and PS4 two years after the original release as this is the time it takes to port the game, which is only playable on the PC and Mac, to the consoles.

The game was released back in September 2014, which means that the PS4 and Xbox One versions are expected to be out by September of this year. However, this might not be the case due to the rumored issues.

Meanwhile, other reports say that "The Sims 4" is arriving on the PS4 and Xbox One this month. However, Electronic Arts hasn't said anything about such console release, making this unlikely.

The last time the publisher spoke about the console launch was back in 2013, when "The Sims 4" was just being prepared to be released. "The Sims 4" producer Grant Rodiek clarified to VG247 that the title is an "offline, client-based game" and that PS4 and Xbox One releases are out of the question.

EA was focused on releasing "The Sims 4" on Mac, which happened February last year. Ever since, EA has been mum about the game except, of course, when it comes to the expansion packs coming to the life simulation game.

The latest DLC to come to the game is "Romantic Garden Stuff," which was made available to players last month in celebration of Valentine's Day. Rumor has it that more DLC, including new markets and restaurants, will be released soon.
