"The Incredibles" is highly regarded as one of the best animated films of all time, with a 97 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. After more than a decade, a report from Variety officially confirms that the sequel, "The Incredibles 2," will hit theaters nationwide on June 21, 2019.

According to the report, the announcement came along with the schedule for other Disney films. Two other Pixar films announced were "Cars 3" and "Toy Story 4," with the former getting a release date in 2017 while the latter was moved from 2017 to June 15, 2018.

Marvel's "Ant-Man and the Wasp," which is also owned by Disney, will release on July 6, 2018. Three unidentified Marvel films are also scheduled to release on 2020. There are also a plethora of untitled animated films as well as untitled live-action fairy tale films that will release from 2018 to 2020.

Of course the most notable tidbits, as reported by Screen Crush, is that "The Incredibles 2" is still four years away and when it releases in 2019, it will have been 15 years since the release of the first film. However, it is noted that this should be expected given the amount of effort taken into producing these films which, for the most part, are critically acclaimed by fans and critics alike.

Given how long and how much effort goes into making these animated films, it comes as no wonder that the second film has taken some time. The first film released back in 2004 and director Brad Bird took a break from animated projects and moved on to handle two live-action films: "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol" and "Tomorrowland."

As previously reported, there are many speculations regarding what "The Incredibles 2" will actually be about. Some speculations point out that Jack-Jack might have grown distant from his family and might turn to the dark side while others speculate a new enemy might be introduced.
