'The Elder Scrolls 6' release date news: Bethesda working on a mobile game tie-in?

Although Bethesda has yet to confirm if "The Elder Scrolls VI" is already in the works, speculations suggest that the studio will be adding another title in the franchise. Reportedly, "The Elder Scrolls" may get a mobile game tie-in with the upcoming sixth main story installment.

According to Gaming Bolt, Bethesda has struck gold when it introduced a mobile game in the highly-popular "Fallout" series. Before the latest "Fallout 4" was released, Bethesda rolled out a mobile game with close tie-in to the title. "Fallout Shelter" was released for iOS and Android, and it became an instant hit for hardcore fans of the franchise.

The industry follower believes that since Bethesda is silent on developments for "The Elder Scrolls VI," it is more likely that a proper sequel follow-up is still years away. This is a good change for the studio to keep fans wanting to continue with the franchise, by adding a mobile game that may serve as a prelude to the upcoming title. With five years and counting between "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" and a sixth story installment, Bethesda will need an interim game in the meantime.

While Bethesda has yet to confirm the speculations, the studio may already be thinking of filling in the gap years between proper "The Elder Scrolls" installments. The company has already revealed that it will come out with a remastered version of "The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim" soon. This is a good chance for hardcore fans to refresh the story once again, especially since there are rumors that "The Elder Scrolls VI" may be a direct sequel to the current storyline, continuing the quests of the Dragonborn.

Featuring revamped design and graphics, as well as bonus items, the remastered "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" will be released on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on Oct. 28.
