Tom Clancy's 'The Division' to have up to 4 playable characters

"Tom Clancy's The Division" will allow up to four characters for the players to build up from scratch.

In a community Q&A video from developer and publisher Ubisoft, lead UI artist Lars Vincent revealed that instead of the traditional RPG interface that limits a player to one character, "The Division" will allow players to create and build up from scratch up to four characters. Vincent said, "You can have more than one character in the Division. You can have up to four characters at the same time."

Accessing each character is also easy, as players can get their chosen characters ready before the missions start. "You just have to choose in the Start menu which one you want," Vincent added.

More and more RPG-style first-person shooters are using the multi-character creation features. Another RPG shooter, "Destiny" from developer Bungie, allows players to create up to three characters, each with their own unique skills and can be built up from different character classes.

However, players will also have the option to focus their efforts in building just one character and need not fill up all four spots. Gamespot said that although each character in "The Division" is only allowed two skills equipped during a mission, players can switch between available skills at any given time. This means that unlike other titles with class-specific skill sets (thereby having the need to create multiple characters), characters in "The Division" can freely change skills even in the midst of a mission. This means that players will have access to all the skills in the title, and it is up to the gamer to decide which character build to focus on.

"Tom Clancy's The Division" is scheduled to release on March 8 next year for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC. Meanwhile, to further fine-tune and get the finishing touches done, Ubisoft has also scheduled a beta test for selected "The Division" players for next month.
