'Street Fighter V' DLC release date rumor: Announcement to be made soon?

Guile makes his entrance in "Street Fighter 5" Capcom

Capcom has yet to announce a new batch of improvements for its "Street Fighter V" game, but fans expect the publisher to come out with new details on characters, tweaks and improvements soon.

According to The Bitbag, Capcom may even surprise its fans with an unscheduled announcement at The Cross Counter tournament, an event that will showcase the "Street Fighter V" finals.

While the announcement is still uncertain, Capcom is expected to reveal a number of updates and new games around this time and may even include "Street Fighter V" details during the 2016 E3. US Gamer reports that due to glitches early on during its launch, the game did not excel in sales as previously expected. The game fell short of the targeted 2 million. The latest figures put "Street Fighter V" just below Super Street Fighter IV" at 1.9 million, and the 3.4-million strong "Street Fighter IV."

This appears to have prompted Capcom to launch what the studio calls a "full-scale offensive."  It is expected that Capcom will announce details about its existing games, as well as release schedules for its upcoming titles soon. Based on its release roadmap, fans may expect to see "Resident Evil: Umbrella Corps," "Sengoku Basara: Sanada Yukimura-Den" and "Monster Hunter Stories." The games are scheduled to release in the summer.

Meanwhile, since Guile has already made an appearance, rumor has it that another "Street Fighter" veteran will be included in the new DLC update. There are speculations that the boxer Balrog may be next in line, and may even play into the extended story mode.

"Street Fighter V" is currently available for the PlayStation 4 and PC via Windows and Linux platforms.
