It may be that Valve is targeting an Independence Day celebration with its Steam Summer Sale. Speculations suggest that the discounts on the retail website will last until July 4.

According to Polygon, a screenshot from Valve has been uploaded on a Reddit thread, with the start and closing dates for this year's Steam Summer Sale shown in the image. Reportedly, the event will start on 9:45 a.m. PT on June 23 and will end on July 4 at 10 a.m. PT.

Meanwhile, while the supposed leak hasn't been confirmed by Valve, the industry follower said that the uploader has leaked previous Steam Sale events and was correct in his predictions.

Seasonal Steam Sale events are one of the most awaited by gamer fans, since Steam offers as much as 90 percent off on select games. In addition, Steam Sale events are also known to come out with a free-for-all games list, where some triple-A titles are mixed in with classics.

As to which games will make it to the 2016 Steam Summer Sale, industry observers say that Valve may choose to once again mix even newly-released major games with some classic bundles.

According to rumors, since their sequels have already been confirmed, fans may expect some classic triple-A games like "Watch Dogs" and "Resident Evil HD Remastered." Meanwhile, there are also other classic titles that fans expect will come out with follow-ups like "The Evil Within," "Infamous: Second Son," and "Psychobreak."

In addition, should the dates for the Steam Summer Sale 2016 prove accurate, it will closely follow another big industry event, the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo. This may mean that Valve may look to the presentations at the E3 when lining up their games for the Steam Summer Sale.
