Hardcore players anticipate the season's Steam sale. The upcoming summer sale will reportedly start on June 23.
According to Polygon, a screenshot from Valve captured and posted by a Reddit user shows the Steam summer sale will start on 9:45 a.m. PT on June 23. The sale will then supposedly end on July 4 at 10 a.m. PT. While the industry follower said that the leak is unconfirmed pending official statement from Valve, leaking a Steam Sale event ahead of its schedule is nothing new. Apparently, the same Reddit threader has also leaked schedules in the past. Some of the leaks that were right on the mark were the schedule for the Steam summer sale last year and the dates for the Steam summer sale back in 2012 and the holiday sale in 2013.
Meanwhile, Yibada says that Valve may also had a hand in the leak, although the company is known to be tight-lipped when it comes to information. The industry observer believes that with the early "leaks" in place, players can start saving money, while those who are hardcore fans can raise their savings and spend some more.
The seasonal Steam sales are anticipated by fans, since Steam regularly mixes classics and triple-A titles on the discount list. While discounts vary from title to title, Steam slashes prices by as much as 90 percent. In addition, the discount lists are also a mix of classics and recently released titles, and even new triple-A titles also come with bundles and discounted prices.
While Valve has yet to formally announce details on the upcoming Summer sale, it is expected that the company will come out with the official dates soon.
