In the next episode of "Star Trek: Discovery," Captain Gabriel Lorca (Jason Isaacs) receives a distress call from a mysterious sender. Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) discovers the monster that the captain retrieved.

The latest trailer for the next episode titled "The Butcher's Knife Cares Not for the Lamb's Cry" shows Lorca receiving a message from someone whose location is under attack by another force that has yet to be identified. It appears that the captain is going to answer the call and help out the distressed location.

In the meantime, Burnham stumbles upon the monster that the captain retrieved from their last mission. She looks surprised but remains calm. Commander Landry (Rekha Sharma) then enters the scene and wants to kill the beast that is an obvious threat to everyone on board the Discovery. She tells Burnham to open the containment unit but gets warned. "That's not a good idea," Burnham says disapprovingly. The doors open as the monster is released.

Landry has a large laser gun in hand and ready to shoot it but the monster is ferocious and agile. It remains to be seen how they will be able to overcome the alien beast.

In the last episode, Burnham, Landry, Cadet Tilly (Mary Wiseman), and Paul Stamets (Anthony Rapp) encountered the beast on a deserted spaceship which they were investigating. The ship's crew members were all dead when Burnham and company arrived. They assumed that the monster they saw was the one that killed everyone on board.

They left the space vessel with some artifacts and information but left the alien beast behind. It turned out though that Lorca had the monster taken on board the Discovery unbeknownst to Burnham.

"Star Trek: Discovery" season 1 episode 4 will air on Sunday, Oct. 8 at 8:30 p.m. EDT on CBS All Access.
