Scandal season 4 spoilers: What is President Fitz and Mellie's future

The Season 3 finale was shocking, but more than that, it paved the way for more questions. Like how will Fitz react knowing that Rowan was involved in his son's death? Where is Olivia going with Jake? How will Fitz take it knowing Olivia's left him? Will Fitz have feelings for Mellie again? Is Mellie going to die too?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention describes bacterial meningitis as "severe" . The bacteria "can spread through the exchange (e.g., by kissing) of respiratory and throat secretions (e.g., saliva or mucus)."

This means that in the new season, there is a very good possibility that Mellie is infected with a rare strain of meningitis when Little Jerry sneezed and coughed blood on her. Nevertheless, the disease is treatable. And if Fitz and Mellie were exposed, the hospital would not release them without prescribed medication first. Rowan's disease, Little Jerry's death and the possible infection of Mellie, all lead to a possible outbreak storyline.

Onwards to Fitz and Mellie -  what will happen to them now? HollywoodNewsDaily reported that Fitz and Mellie will become closer in Season 4 as Fitz feel more empathetic to his wife upon knowing that his dad raped her years ago. Moreover, the couple will both mourn the loss of Little Jerry, which again will bring them closer.

But knowing this new closeness between the President and the First Lady, it somehow gives fans hope that Mellie won't die immediately. But Bellamy Young said in a recent interview that "I don't know! He did, he sneezed all over me, there was blood all over my blazer," reacting to the theory that she will face a serious health scare.

Tony Goldwyn revealed: "They're kind of more bonded than they've ever been in a funny way, but Olivia in their minds is an essential component in that. They've transcended into some new place I think, not that they won't backslide."

But Goldwyn still did not share about how Fitz will react knowing that Olivia left with Jake saying "I don't know what the hell Fitz is going to think when he finds out Olivia's disappeared."

Scandal Season 4 will be back this fall.
