Rumors suggest that Samsung will be adding a new slate to its Galaxy Tab lineup, this time a follow-up to the professional-level Tab S series.

According to TechRadar, while Samsung has yet to come out with the confirmation of its official release date, the new Galaxy Tan S3 is expected to appear mid-2016, quite possibly by July or August.

What is confirmed is that a new Galaxy Tab S-series slate is already in the pipeline. Earlier this year, supposed leaks of the specs sheet of the Galaxy Tab S3 is seen on benchmark sites. Meanwhile, perennial tipser Evan Blass has also already posted what seems to be press renders for the upcoming Samsung slate.

The supposed leaks on the benchmark websites place some improvements for the next slate. Reportedly, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 will use a Qualcomm processor, rather than the homegrown Exynos chipset on previous Galaxy Tab products. For the upcoming slate, the chipset of choice is the Snapdragon 652 SoC. While it may be a mid-range chipset, its octa-core architecture places it above the Exynos 5433 used in the current-gen Galaxt Tab S2. The new chipset also scores slightly above previous top-tier SD 810, the precursor to the current-gen SD 820 chipset.

Being a new release, it is said that the Galaxy Tab S3 will bring Android Marshmallow 6.0 right out of the box. However, Samsung will supposedly feature similar specs to the current-gen slates like the Tab S2. Apparently, the display will remain the same Super AMOLED screen, with 2048 x 1536 resolution. Under the hood, the new slate will also run on 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of onboard storage, and almost the same setups for its main and front cameras.

As with the previous generations, the Galaxy Tab S3 is also said to launch in different variants, with an 8-inch and 9.7-inch display versions topping the list.
