Samsung Galaxy Tab S Android M update: Original Samsung slate set to receive Android Marshmallow?

As Android Nougat is being prepared to roll out, some devices are still waiting for an update to Android Marshmallow. Speculations suggest that Samsung's slate Galaxy Tab S may get the Android 6.0 update.

According to SamMobile, an online user manual for the first-gen Galaxy Tab slate reportedly confirms that the Samsung tablet will get Android Marshmallow. Meanwhile, although the said document did not indicate when users of the slate can expect the update roll out, the industry follower believes it is only a matter of time. The Android M rolling out to the Galaxy Tab S in a matter of weeks from now is more than likely, given that Samsung will then have shift its focus towards updating the rest of its products lineup to the latest Android N platform.

Users of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S have been waiting for an Android M update for a long time. Previously though, it was reported that Samsung has only deemed an Android Marshmallow update for the Galaxy Tab S2, with the original slate retaining Android Lollipop as its highest platform upgrade. The Galaxy Tab S rolled out in 2014 with Android KitKat. It comes in two versions, an 8.4-inch variant and a larger 10.5-inch slate.

As for the rest of the lineup, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 has already received its Android Marshmallow platform earlier this year. Meanwhile, there are rumors that Samsung plans to unveil another new flagship addition in the lineup. Speculations suggest that the rumored Galaxy Tab S3 will be making its debut at the IFA 2016 in Berlin. In addition, speculations suggest that Samsung is also adding another slate iteration, a Galaxy Tab A 10.1 with an S Pen.

Should this prove true, fans will only have days to wait for the new lineup iterations, as the trade show is scheduled to commence late next week.
