When Samsung updated its Galaxy J series, the Galaxy J3 launched at the start of the year, and the global release has picked up since then. However, some carriers have yet to include the 2016 edition in their offerings.

Now, U.S. major carrier AT&T has confirmed that by next month, fans who want to check out the 2016 edition of the Samsung Galaxy J3 can tick the device off their waiting list as the new iteration will arrive then.

According to an announcement from AT&T, the pricing structure and release date for the 2016 Galaxy J3 handset subscriptions have already come out. The Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) will start to ship out on May 6 and will be priced at $5.67 per month with a lock-in period of 30 months for subscribers in the Next 24 installment program.

Aside from the 2016 edition of the Samsung Galaxy J3, AT&T also announced that the Galaxy Express Prime GoPhone and Galaxy Express 3 will also be available for subscribers starting next month.

The 2016 edition of the Samsung Galaxy J3 sports a 5-inch Super AMOLED display, a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, and 16GB of onboard storage expandable to 128 GB via microSD support. AT&T highlights the 2016 Samsung Galaxy J3 as a good business device with a budget-friendly price since the new handset "enables 256 bit encryption by default, and with Samsung KNOX support there is built in defense grade security at the hardware level. Using an EMM solution, the Galaxy J3 can be managed and protected at a high level."

Prior to AT&T adding the Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) to their lineup, the only U.S. carriers to introduce the 2016 edition had been Virgin Mobile and Boost Mobile. The new Galaxy J3 is also being introduced in other markets, particularly in India.
