Samsung has been in the rumor mills lately. This particular instance is about a purported Galaxy A9, the followup to the mid-rangers A5 and A7. The handset allegedly underwent a benchmark test at Geekbench, which revealed some of its specs.

The leaked benchmark test revealed that the handset will use the power of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 620 processor, which has eight cores – the first four clocked at 1.8 GHz and the other four at 1.4 GHz. Alongside the Adreno 510 GPU, these units will work in harmony to keep the battery in check and the overall performance always bordering on excellent.

Apart from the potent set of hardware, the Samsung Galaxy A9 will also be a treat to users as it will reporedly provide flawless 4G LTE connectivity that could generate download speeds that can shoot up to 300 Mbps. Uploading will be at 100 Mbps and its all thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 620 processor. To balance this all out, the device will allegedly be home to 3 GB of RAM and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

Mobile Burn says that there's nothing more ideal for the device to use than a Snapdragon 620. The 610 processor, which is the predecessor of the Snapdragon 620, is already an efficient unit for midrange devices such as Samsung's Galaxy A lineup. It wouldn't be a surprise if the Galaxy A9 will be made capable of 4K video capture and playback.

When the Galaxy A7 was released back in January, it was introduced with a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB storage space, a 13 MP primary camera and a 5 MP secondary shooter. It will be interesting to see how Samsung will top this.

There is no concrete information on the release date or the pricing but some media outlets already pit the device against Samsung's other flagship, the Galaxy S6, whose hardware isn't too different than what the benchmark test claims the Samsung Galaxy A9 has.
