It seems Rockstar Games is cooking up a surprise for its fans, as the studio teases a huge franchise announcement to be made soon.

According to Express UK, Take Two Interactive, the parent company of publisher Rockstar Games, is confirmed to be a participant at the upcoming Gamescom trade show in Cologne. While the company has yet to come out with its presentation plans, the industry follower believes that a new franchise announcement – possibly "Red Dead Redemption 2" – is highly likely. Rockstar Games has already hinted at this development in a previous earnings call, stating in a fiscal report that "Rockstar Games also is hard at work on some exciting future projects that will be revealed soon."

Although Take Two Interactive still has other big-name franchises under its belt like "Grand Theft Auto" and "Mafia," fans are wishing for "Red Dead Redemption 2," since players have been clamoring for a sequel for a long time. The original "Red Dead Redemption" was released way back in 2010. However, aside from news on "Red Dead Redemption 2," another possibility is a major announcement on another franchise, "Mafia," owned by 2K Games, another Take Two Interactive studio. It is already confirmed that "Mafia 3" is scheduled for release on Oct. 7.

This didn't stop speculations on "Red Dead Redemption 2," though. Supposedly, the game is already in the works and will debut soon. In fact, some of the story, characters, and gameplay details have already supposedly "leaked," and are making their rounds online.

In addition, it is said that the reveal on "Red Dead Redemption 2" is already a delayed announcement, since it is originally slated for a mid-2016 tease. Reportedly, a major reveal has been planned for the sequel at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, but Sony and Take Two Interactive has pulled out "Red Dead Redemption 2" from its presentation list for an unknown reason.
