It seems "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" ("PUBG") is giving its rival "Fortnite: Battle Royale" a taste of its own medicine, as the former appears be adopting features of the latter in order to overtake it in terms of popularity.

"Fortnite: Battle Royale" is now the king of the battle royale genre and is going stronger after months of being second to "PUBG." As such, "PUBG" is now only the second-best battle royale game, though this means that they now have to adapt to certain changes in the taste of their player base lest they get left in the dust, which is why they have chosen to adopt some of the features and strategies of their rival.

At least this seems to be the case right now based on one such feature that has been announced for the near future of "PUBG." This is with regard to the new map that was recently revealed for the first time by the developers on Twitter. The said tropical map is noticeably much smaller compared with the usual "PUBG" map that measures in at 6 x 6 kilometers (km.), whereas the new upcoming map is only 4 x 4 km.

Meanwhile, "Fortnite: Battle Royale" has had its 3 x 3 km. map ever since the beginning and was apparently more fun for the players since this ensured that encounters with some of the 99 other players were never too rare, meaning more firefights peppered throughout the entire map with fights lasting from 15 to 20 minutes for the top 10 players left. By comparison, "PUBG" with its larger map usually meant that it can take several minutes before one player runs into another due to the size of the battleground, leading up to matches that last as long as 30 minutes for the top 10.

Apart from the smaller map, "PUBG" will also be introducing an emote system to the game, something which "Fortnite: Battle Royale" has also had since its release. This will allow players to communicate without speech and with animations only.

More new and much-needed features will soon be added to "PUBG," and players are advised to keep their eyes open for announcements.
