PS Plus free games April 2016: 'Dead Star' confirmed to be included on the list

 Playstation Europe

Normally, details about the upcoming free games for the PS Plus program are leaked toward the end of the preceding month. However, it seems that an inadvertent slip revealed at least one free game for April.

According to EuroGamer, the confirmation came from an official notification. Reportedly, a PlayStation 4 owner who wanted the game was refused purchase and even had his payment refunded. Asked for an update, the player then received a notification from the PlayStation Network, stating that since "Dead Star" will be a free game for PlayStation Plus members next month, the purchase will be cancelled.

The notice added that the player will receive a bonus – the "Dead Star" theme that is included in the pre-order bundle will remain in his PS4 inventory.

Since the announcement started on Twitter, some fans may not be convinced. In addition, a leak for the April batch this early seems to be unlikely.

However, Game Spot has confirmed the story from Sony PlayStation itself. According to the industry insider, a PS representative revealed that "Yes, Dead Star will be added to the April free games lineup for PlayStation Plus members."

Since the PS Plus free games list normally comes with at least four games as free downloads for the month, the industry follower must've also asked about the rest, as the PlayStation representative added, "Stay tuned for our announcement on the full April free games lineup for Plus members later this month."

Meanwhile, the guessing game has begun for the April edition of the PS Plus program. On the community thread on the US PlayStation blog, most of the predictions include "Watch Dogs" and "Persona 4 Golden," since sequels will be forthcoming for the two games. Other titles predicted to be free next month include "Beyond" and "Killzone: Shadow Fall."
