'Pokémon Sun' and 'Pokémon Moon' Nintendo Switch: 'Pokémon Stars' a console port of the game?

The new merchandise released by The Pokémon Company Japan has led to speculation that this could be a teaser for "Pokémon Stars." The Pokémon Company Japan

"Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon" are arguably among the most popular games within the game series, so it is not surprising that many fans are clamoring for the games to be made playable on the Nintendo Switch. This wish might just come true, as there are rumors that the game will be ported on the new console under a new name: "Pokémon Stars."

First reported on Eurogamer, "Pokémon Stars" is said to be the code name of "Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon" for the Nintendo Switch. The article says that the same team that worked on "Sun and Moon" will also be the group to develop "Stars." It also said that the Switch version will have better graphics, although presented in the same art style as the Nintendo 3DS game.

Gaming Bolt theorizes that the Switch version of the game will be an expansion of the original game, although it does not provide the details on what level of expansion the game will be seeing. Nonetheless, the article says that the game is met with excitement because it will be the first title to appear on Nintendo Switch, as well as the first one to be presented in high definition.

While "Pokémon Stars" could be a brand-new game for the console, an article on Heavy speculates that this is unlikely to happen, considering that the track record of The Pokémon Company is that it does not produce a third game within a series. In fact, the last time it released a third title was more than a decade ago, with "Pokémon Platinum." After that, the last five sets of games only featured two games each.

No official announcements have been made about this by either Nintendo or The Pokémon Company. As such, fans of the series will need to stay tuned for more information about this.
