'Pokémon GO' update 2018: New outfits available for purchase

Niantic Labs, the developer of "Pokémon GO," has announced that new avatar outfits are available for purchase after players earn Battle Girl, Jogger or Fisherman medals.

The announcement was made via the official "Pokémon Go" Twitter account on Feb. 1.

For players looking forward to avail Battle Girl items, they need to win 10, 100 and 100 gym battles to earn bronze, silver and gold medals. For those who wish to avail themselves of Jogger items, players must walk 10, 100 and 1,000 kilometers. And for players who want to avail Fisherman items, they must catch 3, 50 and 300 big Magikarp (which can be identified by the "XL" on the Magikarp's information screen).

For each medal players obtained, a corresponding outfit item will be available for players to purchase using PokéCoins. According to ComicBook, the prices for Battle Girl items and the medals needed to avail them are as follows — gloves: 50 (bronze), shoes: 50 (silver), shorts: 200 (silver) and tank top: 220 (gold). For Jogger items, on the other hand, the prices and medals needed are as follows — watch: 50 (bronze), visor: 100 (bronze), sunglasses: 160 (bronze), shoes: 50 (silver), shorts: 200 (silver) and tank top: 220 (gold). Moreover, to avail Fisherman items, the prices and the medals needed to do so are as follows — cap: 180 (bronze), boots: 100 (silver), pants: 200 (silver) and vest: 500 (gold).

It is important to note that the outfits are gender-specific. That means there will be no female version of the Jogger and the Fisherman items as well as a male version of the Battle Girl items.

Meanwhile, the next "Pokémon GO" Community Day is on Feb. 24 with the focus on "Dratini with unique moves." The event will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. GMT in the United Kingdom and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. CET in Europe, Middle East, Africa and India. In North America, South America and Greenland, it will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. PST and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. EST. As for Asia-Pacific, the Community Day will be from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. JST.
