'Pokémon GO' Gen 2 rumors: update reported to bring Legendary and Second Gen Pokemon

Reportedly, the augmented reality hit game "Pokémon GO" will get a major update, and will add the second-gen Pokémon roster to the game. In addition, it is said the Legendary Pokémon will also come with the update.

According to rumors, supposed data-mined details for the upcoming update have revealed that part of the "Gen 2" update is the introduction of Legendary creatures in "Pokémon GO." Reportedly, the first round of the update will unlock the first set of Legendary Pokémon. When the update goes live, players will get the chance to check out and capture the original Legendaries like Mew and Mewtwo, along with Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres.

In addition to the supposed source code lines in the update, some players have reported catching Legendary Pokémon even if the update has yet to roll out, which further fuels speculations that the feature is indeed included in the new update. The Bitbag reports that some players have supposedly captured Articuno. Developer Niantic has hinted that the update may have been inadvertently leaked, as it stated, "We recently notice that a few Legendary Pokemon got into few accounts when they shouldn't have. To preserve the game's integrity and as a measure of fairness, we have rectified the situation and revoked the legendary Pokemon from the Trainers' accounts."

Meanwhile, aside from the Legendary Pokémon, the anticipated major update to "Pokémon GO" is expected to showcase some new features for millions of players around the world. Speculations suggest that new features may include a buddy system, as well as direct trainer-to-trainer Pokémon trading system.

Having new features for the major update is already expected for "Pokémon GO," since the game has been a resounding success starting with its launch. Even with the problems of server crashes and cheat issues, "Pokémon GO" remains one of the top games for the year, and has reportedly made more than $440 million in revenues.
