Mimi O'Donnell: Philip Seymour Hoffman's longtime girlfriend says actor sounded high night fatal overdose

Mimi O'Donnell, the longtime partner of actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, who was found dead Sunday morning, is reportedly inconsolable.

Hoffman, who recently starred in the Hunger Games Catching Fire, was found dead in his Manhattan apartment on Feb, 2, 2014.

The actor reportedly died of a drug overdosein his Greenwich Village apartment.

A friend of Hoffman found his body at 11:30 a.m. Sunday morning at a bathroom in an apartment on 35 Bethune St. with a needle in his arm.

O'Donnell reportedly told authorities that the actor sounded high the night before his fatal drug overdose. She said he sounded high when she saw him at 8 p.m. Saturday night. Bags of heroin were recovered from the actor's rented apartment, including vials of "Ace of Spades" heroin, which is a lethal concoction of heroin and fentanyl.

The family of late actor Philip Seymour Hoffman released a statement hours after his shocking death.

The statement says: "We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Phil and appreciate the outpouring of love and support we have received from everyone. This is a tragic and sudden loss and we ask that you This is a tragic and sudden loss and we ask that you respect our privacy during this time of grieving. Please keep Phil in your thoughts and prayers."

The actor previously admitted to struggling with drug addiction and had checked himself into rehab last year for heroin use. 

The 46-year-old was not married and is survived by his long-term partner costume designer Mimi O'Donnell and their young children - son Cooper Alexander, 10, and daughters Tallulah, 7, and Willa, 5. 

A source told ShowBizSpy: "Mimi is inconsolable. He had his problems, but she thought he was on the road to recovery following his recent rehab stint."

Hoffman was an American actor and director. His latest movies include the Hunger Games: Catching Fire, in which he starred as Plutarch Heavensbee.

Hoffman won an Oscar for Best Actor in 2005 for film Capote and also received three Oscar-nominations for Best Supporting Actor.
