'Persona 5' release date US: Japan's September launch to feature prologue anime show

 Atlus

The next role-playing franchise installment from Atlus and Square Enix, "Persona 5," finally gets a release date. In addition, the developer has also revealed that other bonuses are included in the rollout of the game.

According to Atlus, as part of the series installment, a prologue anime show touching on how "Persona 5" came to be will also be shown before the game launches on Sept. 15. The show itself has already been confirmed last year, but details were sketchy. This time though, closer to the release date, Atlus has revealed that the anime show special is titled "Persona 5 The Animation – The Day Breakers." The special will serve as the prologue of the game, and will focus on how the young organization, the Phantom Thieves of Hearts, came to be.

Meanwhile, aside from the anime special airing before the release, a special orchestral concert run will also be held in Japan on August 13. In addition, a post-release event is also already in the works, a "Persona 20th Fes" cultural festival scheduled for December to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the franchise.

"Persona 5" is the upcoming installment in the original series for "Shin Megami Tensei: Persona."

Atlus has also revealed that aside from "Persona 5" bonus surprises, some game-related bundles are also in store for hardcore fans of the series. Reportedly, the "Persona 5" launch will also release a "20th Anniversary Edition" bundle. The special edition will pack the game, as well as a "Persona 5" art book, a special DLC set; a five-disc "Persona 20th Anniversary All-Time Best" soundtrack album, and other accessories.

The Sept. 15 release date for "Persona 5" has only been confirmed for Japan. Atlus is silent however, if it plans to release the game worldwide before the holidays. Meanwhile, some observers are saying that Atlus has played it safe, launching "Persona 5" as an early-exclusive for Japan first, since the release period closely coincides with another big-name franchise rollout, that of Square Enix's "Final Fantasy XV."
