'Person of Interest' season 5 news: Final season will not disappoint

"Person of Interest" fans have been waiting for the show's fifth season for a long time. Ever since the series' fourth season ended earlier this year, fans have been on the edge for the official announcement of season 5's premiere date.

Rumors of cancellation have surrounded the crime drama series. CBS announced their renewal of the show, but fans became worried when the network only ordered 13 episodes instead of the usual 22-23.

"Person of Interest" was also not included in the official list CBS released containing its midseason lineup earlier this year, which only made fans of the sci-fi series worry more. The show's delay was reportedly due to the network's focus on other shows.

Despite the uncertainty of the show's future, creator Jonathan Nolan and the team behind "Person of Interest" remain hopeful and in full gear.

While speaking in a Comic-Con panel, Nolan said, "I can't predict down the road but we're very proud of the show and if it's the last season, no one is going to be disappointed with the story we tell."

Indeed, "Person of Interest" has kept a loyal fan following due to its interesting plot and captivating storytelling. So what exactly is in store for viewers when season 5 comes around?

Harold Finch's (Michael Emerson) emotional side will be highlighted as he grieves for the loss of The Machine. The actor has even said that The Machine is possibly the most important thing in his character's life. But the team will be working on getting The Machine back.

Sameen Shaw (Sarah Shahi) will be back and her relationship with Root (Amy Acker) will also be featured in the upcoming season. Meanwhile, John Reese (Jim Caviezel) won't be doing very well romantically. Since the season will only contain 13 episodes, Caviezel thinks that there won't be enough time for his character to find love.

It's certainly looking like an exciting season, but fans will have to wait for the official announcement of the show's premiere date. Reports claim, however, that "Person of Interest" season 5 will air sometime in 2016.
