'Orange is The New Black' season 3 cancellation is a hoax; Spoilers and cast update

Netflix was bombarded with cancelled subscription threats when an article about "Orange is The New Black" Season 3 cancellation was posted online. Many believed it to be true and loyal fans of the show were easily angered.

Empire News posted the article with the title "Netflix Pulls Plug On Orange Is The New Black; The Reason Why May Shock You." It went on to talk about why the show was cancelled: "'We regret to inform Netflix members that Orange is the New Black has been permanently cancelled. Also, starting September 1st, 2014, past episodes will no longer be available for streaming on Netflix.' said Hastings in a press release early Monday."

The reason cited for the cancellation is explained: "'A woman's place is in the home, in the kitchen, taking care of children.' Hastings told San Jose Mercury News reporter Noah Houpt as he was leaving Netflix headquarters Monday afternoon. 'A woman in jail? How does anyone even watch this show in the first place? It's like we took everything bad about OZ, and make this show with the leftovers.'"

As a result, Reed Hastings was bashed due to the reason and decision. Fans threatened to cancel their subscription if Netflix cancels the show.

However, the article is merely a hoax. Fans who read the article might also want to read Empire News' confirmation about the post saying "Empire News is a satirical and entertainment website. We only use invented names in all our stories, except in cases when public figures are being satirized. Any other use of real names is accidental and coincidental."

In other news, Laura Prepon gave some spoilers about the upcoming season. She said that her character Alex Vause will be seen regularly in season 3 as Prepon is now a regular.

Prepon also shared to US Weekly that she had a busy schedule, but was able to work around it for "OITNB," saying "It sucked because Jenji Kohan and I wanted me to be in it more, but with the schedule, it didn't happen. I was so bummed out. But I handled it, so I'm in every episode in season three. It is so good."
