Oppo seems bent on embracing its reputation for being the "selfie expert," as it is rumored to be getting ready to release the Oppo A77, which is speculated to bear a 16-megapixel selfie camera.

According to GSM Arena, the phone's front camera will trump its rear camera, with the latter only pegged at 13 megapixels. The phone will be powered by MediaTek MT6750T system on a chip (SoC), with a 5.5-inch screen, making it slightly bigger than Oppo A57. It will have 4 GB of RAM and an internal memory of 64 GB. No word has been given if this can be further expanded using a microSD card or otherwise. It is said to carry a 3200 mAh battery and run on Android 6.01 Marshmallow. The handset is said to support dual SIM cards, although it is unclear yet if both are dedicated slots or if one is a hybrid slot.

Rumor has it that the handset will be released at the end of May, with some pegging it on May 26. The phone will reportedly be sold in Taiwan first before being released globally. Its price has yet to be revealed.

According to MobileScout, these specifications are nearly identical with those of the Oppo F3, so it seems strange that Oppo will release this unit in the first place. Nonetheless, given the fact that Oppo has yet to make an official announcement regarding this handset, it remains unclear just how similar it is to – or different from – the Oppo F3. Since the company has yet to confirm or deny if there is truth to the rumors that it will be releasing the Oppo A77, it is best to take the above information as unverified and unofficial until the company proves otherwise.

The first phone that Oppo dubbed as the "selfie expert" is the Oppo F1S.
