NBA trade rumors 2016: Some highs, some lows for Oklahoma City Thunder, will the team even it out?

This summer was a bad one for the Oklahoma City Thunder team, with Kevin Durant leaving them for the Golden State Warriors. And with Durant's departure, rumors surrounding the Thunders' other star player Russell Westbrook fired up. Speculations included the player leaving the Oklahoma team either in a trade-off, or by banking on his free agency.

However, as Ecumenical News reports, the Thunder had something good going for them. In a loyal move, Westbrook extended his contract with the Oklahoma team by three more years. And now, further news from the grapevine says that the team is actively seeking another power player to pair Westbrook with. This will give them another all-star duo to boast of.

One of the primary contenders in this rumored trade is Blake Griffin from Los Angeles Clippers. The fact remains that Griffin is one of the strongest players on the LA team. On the one hand, given his injuries last season, his supposed tension with the Clippers' Chris Paul, as well as his other issues off-court, it is pretty likely that the LA club may trade him away. On the other hand, the Clippers' head coach Doc Rivers intends to keep the team's core intact. So this could turn out to be a hindrance to the Oklahoma team's quest to win Griffin over.

In other news, such as this report on Inquistr, the Oklahoma team is allegedly seeking to add Utah Jazz forward Gordon Hayward to their roster. In return, the trade-off will probably see the Thunder's Enes Kanter leave the team to join the Utah Jazz. Kanter, as basketball enthusiasts will recall, had spent four seasons in Utah previously, before joining the Oklahoma club in the 2014-15 season. Simultaneously, Hayward is expected to contribute significantly to the Thunder as well, considering that he may be an All-Star sometime soon.
