NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030 release date, update: Image of GPU leaks

An image of what is purported to feature the NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030 is currently making its rounds online.

The image, which was pictured by Chinese site Expreview via Videocardz, reveals that NVIDIA is not quite done with its Pascal architecture yet, as the video card carries the GP108 graphics processing unit (GPU), which is intended to be the successor of the GT 930 and GT 730 GPUs. It is said to be an upgraded version of the GP108-300 application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC), which had 384 CUDA cores, 24 texture mapping units (TMUs), 8 render output units (ROPs), and 2 GB of double data rate type five synchronous graphics random-access memory (GDDR5), alongside a 64-bit memory bus.

Along with the image of the actual graphics chip, which bears a cooling fan, one high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) 2.0b port, and a digital visual interface-digital (DVI-D) port. the leaks also revealed box art. However, the GPU can also power up fan-less graphic cards.

According to Videocardz, the GT 1030 netted 1,100 points benchmarking results on the Standard preset of the "Ashes of the Singularity." It also states that according to reports the video card will have 512 CUDA cores and a 30W thermal design power (TDP) card. Yahoo! News indicates that it will have 32 TMUs and 16 ROPs.

This will be the first offering of NVIDIA to the GT line since 2014. According to Wccftech, the graphic card is entry level, released as direct competition of the AMD Radeon RX 550. In accordance with this, it is likely to be priced at $80 or less, to compete with the $79 price tag of the AMD offering.

Rumors are ongoing that the GeForce GT 1030 will have an unannounced release date this May. It is speculated that the market for this graphics card, given the specs and the price, are the esports crowd and the gamers looking for low-end options.

NVIDIA has not yet confirmed if it will be releasing this video card.
