Nokia Lumia 830 vs Galaxy S5 comparison: Which to get?

Samsung has made a name for itself when it comes to the realm of technological devices. With every new model of phone released, many gadget enthusiasts want to get one. However, Nokia's Lumia 830 might just be (or not be) a competitor for the Samsung Galaxy S5. How does the Lumia 830 compare?

The Nokia Lumia 830 is slightly heavier at 150 grams. Its dimensions are 139.4 x 70.7 x 8.5mm. The Samsung Galaxy S5 only weights 145 grams with dimensions 142 x 72.5 x 8.1 mm.

As for the hardware, the Nokia Lumia 830 uses a Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 processor with Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset. It has 16 GB memory and 1 GB RAM. Lumia 830 runs on Windows 8.1 OS. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S5 uses a 2.5 GHz quad-core Krait 400 processor Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chipset. It has 16 GB and 32 GB memory and has 2 GB RAM. Galaxy S5 runs on Android KitKat 4.4.

When it comes to display, the Samsung Galaxy S5 wins this one. It features a Super AMOLED 5.1 inch touchscreen. It has 432 ppi density with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution. As for the Nokia Lumia 830, it only has 294 ppi density and 720 x 1280 pixel resolution. Its 5-inch screen is only IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen.

In the camera department, Samsung Galaxy S5 wins this by a mile. The S5 has a 16 MP camera with LED flash and autofocus. Its front-camera is 2 MP. The Lumia 830 has a 10 MP main camera with Carl Zeiss optics. Its front camera is only 0.9 MP.

One more thing: battery life has a significant difference between the two.  According to Air Herald, the S5's Li-Ion 2800 mAh battery can provide 21 hours of usage compared to Lumia 830's Li-Ion 2200mAh, which can only give around 15 hours.

Samsung Galaxy S5 runs away with this matchup, but at the end of the day, the Lumia 830 is much more affordable and might just be the smartphone some people are looking for.
