While Nintendo has yet to confirm a release date for its next-gen platform, titles are already being lined up for its launch. Another game confirmed for the Nintendo NX is an installment from the "Dragon Quest" series.

Reportedly, in an interview with gaming magazine Nintendo Dream, franchise creator Yuji Horii confirmed that "Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time" will be made available for the Nintendo NX. The confirmation is opposite to what publisher Square Enix previously revealed. Before Horii's confirmation, 'Dragon Quest XI" is only set to release for the PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo 3DS.

Meanwhile, Horii also confirmed that at least four versions of the next franchise installment is in the works. The creator revealed that aside from the PS4 and Nintendo NX versions, "Dragon Quest XI" will released both as 3D and 2D titles for the 3DS. Horii added, "There are a lot of difficulties because of that. Each one has a different look to it, and there's also a PlayStation 4 version, so if we make a small fix then we have to fix it across every version."

Confirming the game for the next-gen platform also gives an idea when the Nintendo NX is expected. Horii also revealed that they are aiming for "Dragon Quest XI" to be launched as a simultaneous release for the three platforms. The creator said, "Spoilers will emerge if we release one version earlier. However, we're a little concerned about the sense of distance in movement. It's different for each of the supported hardware."

"Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time" is set to be released in Japan before May 27, 2017. There is no word yet on a North America release for the JRPG. Meanwhile, the Nintendo NX is rumored to debut early next year, possibly as early as March.
