Nina Dobrev Seen With Paul Wesley From 'Vampire Diaries'

CW series "The Vampire Diaries" became a hit when it launched back in 2009. The show featured the love story between Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) and Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley). Eight years later, the actors of both characters seemed to have reunited on one snowy day in New York City.

Dobrev posted an Instagram photo last Saturday showing her close to Wesley. Fans of "The Vampire Diaries" series suddenly became alive again seeing how the two reunited, even if it is outside of the show that initially brought the two together.

The description on the Instagram post reads "NYC when it's snowing is full of serendipitous run ins and magical reunions. Like this one. #TVDForever #NYCNOW." The same experience has surely been felt by many of the fans who have seen the photo. This is especially true after considering the rocky, and ultimately ill-fated, love story of the two actors' characters.

In "The Vampire Diaries," the series began with Elena and Stefan's love story. Focusing on this, as the events unfold, the two find themselves in complicated situations until Elena starts having feelings for Damon (Ian Somerhalder), who is also Stefan's brother. The series did not try to make Elena choose either one brother, as it was Stefan who ultimately sacrificed his life to save both Damon and Elena.

With that context in mind, it is a satisfying "ending" seeing the two actors "reunite," even if it happened outside of "The Vampire Diaries." Although Elena did end up with Damon in the series, fans of Stefan and Elena definitely got the "ship" they have wanted to happen in the show.

Dobrev left the show previously in season 6 while Wesley stayed for the entire run of the series. Elena, however, did make an appearance during the finale of the much-loved vampire series last March.
