'NCIS' Season 12 spoilers: Tony to have a new love interest? Cote de Pablo happy about her exit?

Fans of Tiva (Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David) may not like this new spoiler for "NCIS" Season 12.

While fans of the team have been waiting for Tiva to happen again, the chances have just declined.

According to new spoilers from Entertainment Weekly, Tony will move on  in this upcoming season and a new partner and love interest by the name of Agent Leia Pendergrast will help him do it. The character will be played by Stephanie Jacobsen.

Agent Leia is described as "flirtatious and adventurous with a sense of humor." Further, she is a straight shooter, brash and "isn't afraid to knock down doors and egos." She will work with Tony to investigate a terrorist threat. If the spoilers are true, Agent Leia will be the first love interest for Tony since Ziva's departure. It will be quite interesting to see how Tony will work with Agent Leia, who is very different from the serious character of Ziva.

While show-runner Gary Glasberg hasn't confirmed that Agent Leia will indeed be Tony's love interest, he did share his interest in letting Tony move on.

"It's time for Tony to continue to grow a little bit," Glasberg told TVLine. "He went through a lot last year emotionally and tried to deal with Ziva's departure as he could. And it's time."

Even though Glasberg has said this before, Tiva fans are still waiting for a reunion. Fans kept hope alive when the show didn't kill off Ziva, which was what De Pablo wanted. Not killing her character off will leave doors open.

In an interview with E! Online, De Pablo said "The greatest thing about this last episode is that Ziva doesn't die. As long as a character doesn't die, the character can always come back. Not that it would actually matter, because we bring back characters from the dead all the time on NCIS!"

"NCIS" Season 12 will return September 23, at 8 p.m. on CBS.
