For fans of the military drama "NCIS," the New Orleans spin-off is arriving in just a couple of weeks. The long wait is over as CBS already announced the final release date of the show, which is on Sept. 23.

"NCIS: New Orleans" will introduce new characters, but there will be numerous appearances of characters that fans have already come to love, both from the original NCIS series and the Los Angeles spin-off. Executive producers Mark Harmon, Gary Glasber and Jeffrey Lieber shared details during the TCA Summer Press Tour.

They said that Gibbs will appear in one episode. Michael Weatherly, who plays Tony DiNozzo, will also appear in other episodes.

Other familiar faces to appear in the new "NCIS: New Orleans" are Pauley Perette and David McCalum, who are rumored to be part of the cast of the new show. And there's Joe Spano's Agent Fornell who will also take part in an investigation. All the guest appearances will result in crossovers from the different NCIS shows.

Now who are the new characters that will star in the show? There's Scott Bakula who will play Dwayne Cassius Pride. Agent Pride is in charge of the New Orleans NCIS team. And then there's Lucas Black who plays NCIS Senior Special Agent Christopher LaSalle. Further, there's Zoe McLellan who will play NCIS Special Agent Meredith Brody, C.C.H. Pounder as Dr. Loretta Wade, and Rob Kerkovich who plays Sebastian Voll.

For further information on the new characters, CBS released a video interview of each of them. A promo for "NCIS: New Orleans" has been released too.
