The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to clean house any time from now until the offseason, a move seen to make as much salary space available as they go for the big free agent names next Summer.
The obvious target here is Kevin Durant, who is expected to be the busiest person during 2016 NBA Free Agency, plus a host of other guys. Maybe even Dwight Howard could have a change of heart, especially with Kobe Bryant retiring by the end of the season. Right now, anything is possible and the Lakers have all the money to burn to get it done.
Two names that could be of interest to other teams are Nick Young and Lou Williams. The two players are proven scorers and likely to gain interest from teams in need of an offensive machine.
Williams, perhaps one of the better recruits the Lakers got in the offseason is likely to be someone teams would want to get their hands on. Being a former NBA Sixth Man awardee, he is a player who can do well with other teams.
With the Lakers, Williams has failed to connect with the system of head coach Byron Scott, although he has had some bouts with injuries. Still and all, it should not be surprising if he jumps ship with a better team soon.
Young is someone who will not surprisingly be traded if any team takes the chance. Word about this came out as early in the offseason, although no one has taken the bait.
He has been a far cry from what he was back in 2013 but much of that has been hindered by the fact of injuries and his inability to blend in with Scott and his new role.
Although his defensive efforts and other game facets are in question, the right coach (and team) can certainly mold him to a better one other than the Lakers.
Other players are likely to be dealt soon with perhaps the young core (Jordan Clarkson, D'Angelo Russell, and Julius Randle) likely being kept.
