There are only a few episodes until "Nashville" airs its midseason finale, and in the next episode, Rayna (Connie Britton) deals with a new problem as she gets called out by her new artist when she does something unexpected.
This week, Rayna was faced with a dilemma when her daughter, Maddie (Lennon Stella) got a contract to work as a solo artist. While other mothers would have been happy to have this kind of offer fall into their children's laps, Rayna appeared to be skeptical and strongly expressed her disapproval, much to the teen's displeasure. Rayna did not want Maddie to grow up too fast, and since she herself is an artist and has been in the business for a long time, the star thought that she knew what was best for her daughter.
"She's 16 years old, she's not signing a solo deal with Sony!" said Rayna over the phone. This made Maddie turn on her mother, as she thought that Rayna was holding her back.
"You're trying to keep me from doing the things I love, but you can't!" Maddie shouted.
Meanwhile, Luke tried to repair his relationship with Cole, while Gunnar's girlfriend didn't get along well with Scarlett. As for Avery, she was forced to do jingles due to her financial situation.
The next episode titled "Three's a Crowd" will air on Dec. 2, and this time, Rayna has to sort out her problems with Markus Keen, her new artist. Rayna will once again insist that she knows what's best when it comes to the business, and she makes an important decision regarding Markus's music without consulting him. Rayna decides to scrap one of his songs one week before the release of his album, and her actions will cause him to question her judgement. Meanwhile, Scarlett gets some time off from her tour and she decides to surprise Caleb back in Nashville, while Luke will keep on trying to reconcile with Colt.
"Nashville" airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on ABC.
