It's been a year since Miley Cryus' raunchy performance shocked the world during her 2013 performance with Robin Thicke at MTV's Video Music Awards.

This year, the VMA's moved forward with performances from various artists.

The VMAs is one of the most enjoyable music awards, bringing all the A-list musicians and artists together. The 2014 VMA's will be no different.

Among the performers were Nicki Minaj, Jessie J and Ariana Grande who opened the show with their collaboration song "Bang Bang." Minaj  also performed her new single "Anaconda."

Grande performed her song "Break Free" (featuring Zedd) solo.

Prior to her performance, the "Problems" singer told ET : "I'm super anxious before these kinds of things because it's so nerve wracking, I'm still not the best on the red carpet. That is still something that I'm working on, but I'm not as anxious anymore."

Also in the list of performers were Beyonce, who received the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award and performed a medley of her songs.
