Speculations suggest that the next Moto X flagship lineup will take a page out of the design of the LG G5 and will feature modular add-ons.

According to Venture Beat, the new Moto X will also be a lineup much like its predecessors and will have at least two iterations under the flagship, dubbed the Vector Thin and Vertex. Vector Thin is the base model flagship, with Snapdragon 820 processor paired with 3GB or 4GB of RAM and a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with Quad HD resolution. The Vertex, on the other hand, will be the more modest version of the two, with mid-range specs like a Snapdragon 625 chipset and a choice between 2GB or 3GB RAM and 16GB or 32GB storage.

The industry follower added that one notable feature of the next Moto X lineup is that it will reportedly come with its own accessories, and each hardware module can be fitted into the Moto X via the connecting pins on the backplate. These accessories, called "Amps," are reminiscent of the "LG G5 and Friends" bundle. The add-ons range from stereo speakers to camera grips and the phone may even come with an external battery add-on, given that the Vector Thin only has a 2,600 mAh battery.

In terms of design, not much is known about the upcoming Moto X editions other than what can be seen from their supposed leaked images. Apparently, the protruding camera lenses will sit flushed when an Amp add-on is used and can also be removed since they are magnetically attached.

The Moto X 2016 doesn't have a confirmed release date yet, although speculations suggest that it may make an appearance next month at the Lenovo Tech World event.
