The wait for the new installment of the "Moral Kombat" game franchise won't be that long.
"Mortal Kombat X," the 10<sup>th installment of the game franchise is expected to feature the most awesome guest characters. And game fans are asking if DC superheroes will finally be included in the game.
Game co-creator Ed Boon had a chat with Polygon at the Evo 2014 Championship Series and he confirmed that it is certain that there will be guest characters in the game, as this has become one of the most anticipated feature of the game.
"Freddy Krueger was the most downloaded character in 'Mortal Kombat 9,'" Boon said. "Scorpion was the guest character in 'Injustice', and he was the most downloaded character in that game. It's working out for us, and I'd be surprised if we ignored those numbers."
With Scorpion's success in the DC game, Polygon asked if there's a chance that DC comic superheroes will make it in "Mortal Kombat X." Boon stated a clear no. But why?
"'Injustice' did really well for us, so I would hope that maybe someday we will do another one," Boon said to Polygon.
He explained further, "There are certain things that I feel are signature to that game... From my perspective, there's the Mortal Kombat universe, where you can do the extreme violence. The 'Injustice' universe is superheroes and more over-the-top stuff as opposed to blood and gore." Boon also said that he has no desire of cutting up Batman's head or killing Superman.
The other thing that won't make it into the new game is the Motor Kombat mini-game. Meanwhile, what is to be expected from the 10<sup>th "Mortal Kombat" game?
The game will pick up 25 years after the previous one. This would explain why the old characters will meet the new ones. All characters will have different abilities depending on what variations the player will choose. This is designed to give the player a customizable option in choosing the best fighting style for his or her players.
So far, the confirmed list of characters included in the game are Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade, D'Vorah, Ferra/Torr, Kotal Kahn, Raiden, Scorpion and Sub-Zero. As for the guest characters, Freddy Krueger is confirmed to join the cast.
"Mortal Kombat X" will be launched on PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
