Monday Night Football live stream free: Watch online 49ers vs Falcons [ESPN start time, preview]

Monday Night Football takes place tonight and will feature two teams seemingly headed in very different directions. The San Francisco 49ers and Atlanta Falcons played in the NFC Championship game last season, but this season things look like they will be much more one-sided, as the 49ers continue their push for the playoffs, where as the Falcons have fallen down in a bad way this season.

The big Monday Night Football game will get underway at 8.40 p.m. EST and will be broadcast on the ESPN network. Alternatively the game can also be watched online through live stream – free for ESPN subscribers – via the link provided below.

This game would have been one of those to highlight when the season's schedule was announced earlier this year. However, it now looks like it will be a very one-sided affair and nowhere near as exciting as it did then.

The main excitement will focus on the fact that the 49ers still have work to do to clinch their playoff spot.

The Flacons meanwhile, have struggled badly on both sides of the ball this season and they have suffered bad injuries at the wrong times, meaning they are more-waiting for the season to be over right now.

On paper, this still looks like it should be a fiercely fought affair, and there should be enough top players facing off today to make it interesting. However, the way in which the Falcons have suffered losses this year suggest otherwise, and it could very well become a game that's all over by half time if the Falcons do not come out ready to fight with everything they've got.

For the 49ers, Colin Kaepernick has come alive in recent weeks and the 49ers' form has coincided with that upturn in his form. They will hope they will continue on that upwards trend, and if so they could be hitting the playoffs as they peak in their form this season.

Monday Night Football starts at 8.40 p.m. EST and can be watched online by clicking here.
