Alyssa Milano won't be in "Mistresses" season 3 anymore but her character Savi, according to reports will at least appear in the season premiere to be written off formally. How her exit will go down is still unknown but Entertainment Weekly gave a clue.
In the first episode of the new season, the aforementioned site says that someone will be carted away in an ambulance during Joss' wedding. It is unclear whether or not this will be Savi but it sounds like an applicable departure for the character.
"I can't speak too specifically about the Savi of it all, except to say that she is very much a part of our premiere," showrunner Rina Mimoun told TV Line. Apparently, Alyssa Milano's exit was instigated by the change of location. Season 3 was filmed in Vancouver whereas the past two seasons were shot in Los Angeles.
As Savi will no longer be around, "Mistresses" season 3 will introduce a new character that goes by the name Calista Raines, who will be played by Jennifer Esposito. The newcomer is all about glamor and all things larger-than-life, pitting her directly against Joss.
In an episode preview, Calista and Joss easily develop bad blood on their first meeting after the latter hustled into the parking space that was supposed to be hers. Joss showed no care in the world and even offered her newfound enemy $100 just to shut up while Calista was fuming.
Indeed, the addition of Calista in "Mistresses" season 3 promises that there won't be any shortage of trouble and catfights in the hit ABC series. The fact that she is a mentor and surrogate sister to Joss will make things more interesting.
Mimoun also teased that "Mistresses" season 3, which premieres on Jun. 18 with episode "Gone Girl," will also be "bringing back a very special guest from Season 1—a surprise visitor who once again wreaks havoc in the lives of one of our Mistresses."
