'Minecraft' Wii U release date: Wii U Edition disappears from ratings board

It wasn't too long ago when word came out that "Minecraft" could probably be played on the Wii U at some point in the future.

The news from Wired got the notion when Minecraft appeared on the European ratings board, Pan European Game Information (PEGI ), earlier this month, sparking vast expectations for gamers who were looking forward to another game console that would feature the said game.

For those who are unfamiliar, PEGI is a reliable source for upcoming video game releases. And with that said, the latest may come as bad news for some who were eager to see what "Minecraft" on Wii U would bring.

Apparently, the listing has been taken down and the previous link now points to other ratings for different episodes of "Minecraft: Story Mode."

It remains unclear why the game was taken out of the list, although there are speculations that Nintendo may have asked PEGI to remove the title for now due to varying reasons. This could be because the game has yet to be developed or worse, "Minecraft" for the Wii U isn't happening at all.

Prior to its removal, a description on the game title said that the game is suitable for gamers aged seven and above. It carries non-realistic violence, although the images and sound effects could be a bit scary for the younger gamers out there.

With that said, the Wii U still stands alone as the only game console not supporting the "Minecraft" game. There are versions for personal computer (PC), Playstation, Xbox, iOS, and Android at the moment and a version for the Nintendo game console would have been the best one to cap it all off.

Until there is an official word offered on why PEGI took out the game title, there lies a small glimmer of hope for the ones using the Wii U and at the same time hooked up to the Minecraft gaming franchise.
