Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date rumors: New Surface Pro to launch soon as huge discounts offered on current lineup?

With its main competitor Apple reportedly lining up its professional-level tablet and laptop iterations for this year, will Microsoft follow suit and release a new Surface Pro soon? Speculations suggest that it is more than likely, since huge discounts are currently offered on the current Surface Pro lineup.

A promo is currently running on the Microsoft Store. The base model for the Intel i5 version of Microsoft Surface Pro 4, with 4 GB of RAM and 128GB SSD, is currently at $899, from its original $999 tag. The deal is also available for the upgraded version of the Surface Pro 4 lineup, with 8 GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, priced at $1,199, from $1,299.

Both discounts are not just for a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 unit but for the bundle themselves, including a Surface Pen and a full version of Windows 10 Pro.

The discounts will be available until March 26.

Meanwhile, third-party retailers are also cutting their original prices for the Microsoft Surface Pro lineups. On Amazon, the base model of the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 with 64 GB storage and 2 GB of RAM is available for as low as $387, and the 128GB model with 4 GB of RAM is priced at $449.

Because of the huge discounts in the current lineups of the Surface Pro, rumors say that Microsoft may already be planning of following up the flagship with a new iteration, and the upcoming Surface Pro 5 may be seen sooner than what most fans think. While it is probable that a new Surface Pro may launch later this year, Microsoft may also be planning of taking on Apple head-on and launch the device earlier than anticipated since it is speculated that Apple will be revealing their new MacBooks and iPads in mid-2016.
