With new smartphone flagships appearing this year, it is said that Microsoft will enter the fray once more and come out with the Surface Phone toward the end of the year. In addition, speculations say that Windows fans may look forward to October, as the new Windows 10 phone will be accompanied by other new Windows mobile devices.

According to Morning News USA, although Microsoft has yet to officially confirm its schedule, the tech giant will reportedly hold a stand-alone event in October. Allegedly, the Redmond-based company will be revealing the new Surface Phone. To complete the new mobile lineup, October will also reportedly see the launch of a new Surface Pro and the Surface Book 2.

The industry follower added that based on its Windows 10 environment, Microsoft will brand the new Surface Phone as a professional-level handset, targeting business-oriented users. It is also said that the Surface Phone will be the premium smartphone iteration as Microsoft will reportedly release mid-range to above-average Windows phones under its Lumia brand.

Meanwhile, although the tech giant has yet to come out with details on the supposed new Surface Phone, rumors of its specs are already circulating online. Speculations suggest that as a premium flagship, the Surface Phone will have an aluminum and magnesium body. Display-wise, it will feature a 5.5-inch AMOLED display and, since it is targeted for business professionals, accessories such as the Surace Pen will be compatible with the device.

Under the hood, it is said that the new Surface Phone will carry an Intel Atom x3 processor with at least 4GB of RAM. In addition, there may be at least two versions of the new Windows phone. Aside from the base model, there may be a variant with 6GB of RAM and a top-tier chipset.

Microsoft is also reportedly planning to feature a full-version Windows 10 on the Surface Phone, making Windows 10 Mobile the OS for the Lumia phones.
