Microsoft Studios, the publisher of the first-person shooter (FPS) "Halo" franchise, announced "Halo: Collateral Damage" — a new, three-part mini-series comic focusing on the Master Chief during some of his exploits in the Covenant War.

According to the post made by Microsoft on the Halo Waypoint official website on March 6, the three-part mini-series "Halo: Collateral Damage" features the story of the Master Chief and Blue Team. The comic series is set during the time they were deployed by the United Nations Space Command (UNSC) to an unsafe colony world. They are tasked to do whatever it takes to terminate the efforts of the Covenant in unveiling something primordial and puissant underneath the surface of the planet.

The mission takes a turn for the unexpected, however, as the Spartan-II strike team realizes that the stakes of the mission they were given are higher than they have ever thought possible. Moreover, they realized they will not only have to rely on one another to survive, they will also have to trust a small group of human rebels to subsist in the strange colony.

Alex Irvine, who had previously written "Halo: Rise of Atriox #4," "Iron Man: The Rapture" and "Dark Sun," will return to write the upcoming new series about the "Halo" universe. He will be joined by artist Dave Crosland, colorist Leonard O'Grady, letterer Simon Bowland and cover artist Zak Hartong.

The first of the three series, "Halo: Collateral Damage" #1 is scheduled to go on sale on June 6 this year. The first issue is currently available for preorder at comic stores.
