The current stage of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will end with the two-part "Infinity War" films in the "The Avengers" franchise. Going into Phase 4, it has been confirmed that "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" will be one of the movies in the new stage.

In a recent interview with io9, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige admits that the company has concrete plans up until the last movies for Phase 3.

"We're only working on what's been announced through the end of 2019," Feige states. However, the studio executive did hint that for the movies in 2020 and beyond, at least one sequel will be made. Feige continues, "And it is still a big chess board for 2020 and beyond, but certainly I would say Guardians 3 is [one film that's] up there. I don't know what exactly the order will be."

The original "Guardians of the Galaxy" has been a pop culture hit that it has secured a sequel, with "Volume 2" slated for a May 2017 release.

Meanwhile, Blastr mentions that although "Inhumans" has been scheduled for release in 2019, it may only be a tentative rollout period. Given that some MCU films and franchise sequels are set to be released before "Inhumans," the announced release dates may change. The industry follower then surmises that should there be delays in the MCU schedule, "Inhumans" may be released in 2020 and become a part of Phase 4.

The industry follower also noted that since most of the major characters will have been introduced in the previous stages, Phase 4 may be composed of sequels, with follow-ups to "Dr. Strange," "Black Panther," and "Spider-Man" among them. This is also plausible, since Marvel is reportedly setting up the end of Phase 3 to bring some big changes to the MCU.
