Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 4 news: solo movie for Black Widow? key MCU parts may be re-cast

There are some adaptations already rumored to be lined up for Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, there may also be some surprise additions to the list, such as Scarlett Johansson getting her own "Black Widow" movie.

Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige himself has already alluded to the superspy landing her own movie. However, he has said that although it may seem unconfirmed at this point, fans should expect that a "Black Widow" movie will not be happening soon.

Feige said, "Yes, for sure, I think [Black] Widow at some point would be great. But when you start talking about things that are now four/five years away... sometimes we do that. Dr. Strange has been talked about for 10 years. But we're focused on the next nine movies, which is a lot, between now and 2019."

Should this prove true, the film will join the list of adaptations that star women heroes in the leading role. For MCU Phase 3, it is already confirmed that a female-led "Captain Marvel" will hit theaters in March 2019.

A "Black Widow" movie has been rumored as one of the upcoming adaptations in Phase 4 in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since a big shift is already expected to occur once the final film in Phase 3 is released, the two part "The Avengers: Infinity War."

According to Screen Rant, there is a high chance that some of the key players in MCU will not be returning for Phase 4, so re-casting is needed. For example, in the MCU progression, Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark can take a backseat and be a support for a new Iron Man instead. The same is being said for Chris Evans' Captain America. In the comics, the mantle and shield for The Cap have been fielded by Bucky – once he has changed completely from his persona as The Winter Soldier – and Falcon on multiple occasions.
