Manchester United transfer news: Real Madrid eyes Danny Welbeck, Angel di Maria says no, talks continue on Arturo Vidal switch

England may have suffered a swift exit from the World Cup but striker Danny Welbeck's performance was still good enough to catch the eye of Real Madrid.

El Mundo Deportivo has surprised fans with a report that the Spanish club are considering making a bid for the United striker, although he himself has professed an interest to stay at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, talks reportedly took place between Old Trafford chiefs and Arturo Vidal's agent Fernando Felicevich on Friday over the possibility of a £35m swap. The midfielder is signed on with Juventus until 2017.

There has been talk of Angel Di Maria rejecting any possible move to Manchester United. Real Madrid are looking for £40m for the Argentina winger, but he has made it clear that if he leaves the Spanish club, it has to be for a team in the Champions League.

That would exclude the Reds, who failed to qualify after finishing seventh last season, well outside the top four.

The Mirror reports that Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus have both expressed an interest in the 26-year-old, although the latter does not have sufficient funds to buy him.
