MacBook Pro 2016 release date, specs rumors: more color options coming with arrival of lineup late October?

Speculations suggest that Apple will launch its laptop lineups, including the 2016 edition of the MacBook Pro, later this month.

According to MacRumors, it is likely that the Cupertino-based tech giant is looking at a late October release for its laptop and desktop lineups. While Apple has just recently concluded a press event last month, the early September debut was focused on the iPhone 7 and the Apple Watch 2. In addition, a late October launch also gives ample time for Apple to come out with an update for its new macOS platforms for the laptops and desktops. The upcoming launch will reportedly showcase the overhauled laptop lineups like the new MacBook Pro, as well as the follow-up to the current-generation MacBook Air.

Meanwhile, speculations suggest that one of the improvements for the 2016 MacBook Pro is a wider array of color variants. Supposedly, the new MacBook Pro will be launched in three colors: Gold, Gray, and Silver.

Aside from a wider range of color options, there will be major improvements for the 2016 MacBook Pro. One noted change is the addition of an OLED touch panel above its keyboard rows. It is said that the new touch panel will customize itself depending on the applications being used. For example, the touch bar transforms into volume and playback controls when a media player app is actively used. It will then go back into function rows and shortcut keys for task-intensive apps like Word.

In addition to the new touch panel, the current specs and features for the new laptop lineups are also likely to get upgrades. This includes switching to the seventh-gen Intel Kaby Lake processor and major improvements in the configuration options for RAM and onboard storage. It is also expected that the major redesign will include additional ports for USB Type-C, as well as the Touch ID feature.
