MacBook Pro 2016 release date, specs news: September launch part of a plan to save Apple sales?

The MacBook Pro 2016 could be here as early as September. Apple

With the supposed Apple September launch getting nearer, rumors suggest that one of the flagship products that the Cupertino-based tech giant will reveal is the 2016 edition of the MacBook Pro.

The MacBook Pro 2016 was expected to be released early this year, and most fans waited for the new laptop to be unveiled at the annual WWDC event last month. However, Apple did not present any new hardware at the launch.

The Bitbag believes that Apple may have chosen to delay the release of the new edition of the MacBook Pro to save company sales. Reportedly, current estimates show that only around 4.4 million current-gen MacBooks have been shipped out, a low figure against last year's 4.8 million sales in roughly the same period. Having the new MacBook Pro rolled out in the middle of the year would shift focus to the new release, and fans will readily choose the new iteration over the current-gen laptops. However, Apple decided to wait out just a bit, since an end-year roll out for the MacBook Pro 2016 may mean more decline in sales, since most of the other competitors have already released their next-gen laptop lineups.

According to rumored specs, the upcoming MacBook Pro is shaping up to be a better alternative for laptop fans. It will reportedly feature a slimmer and lighter profile, boosting its portability. Meanwhile, the performance for the new MacBook Pro is also expected to be improved. While the new iteration may still feature the 6th-gen Sky Lake chipsets rather than the new Kaby Lake processors, Apple will supposedly improve the CPU with hyper-threading technology.

The September release still remains as hearsay pending Apple's confirmation. However, it is known that the tech giant closes out each year with an Autumn launch, with September as the most likely period. Aside from the MacBook Pro 2016, it is rumored that Apple will also launch a new iPad, as well as the iPhone 7.
