Speculations suggest that Apple will be showcasing their updated laptop lineups, including the 2016 MacBook Air, sometime this month. It is said that the press launch is scheduled on Oct. 27.

The Cupertino-based tech giant has yet to confirm the launch. However, 9to5Mac notes that Apple may have inadvertently given a hint on its recent move. The company has rescheduled an upcoming earnings call. The earnings call meeting was originally scheduled to happen on Oct. 27, but Apple has moved the conference to Oct. 25 due to a "scheduling conflict."

The industry follower believes that this may be a hint that a keynote address is expected on the later date, which will be followed by the press launch of the new MacBook lineups. A scheduled quarterly earnings call is only conventionally rescheduled because of a weighty reason. For the upcoming conference, a keynote presentation for new product lineups is a significant cause for a reorganized schedule.

Meanwhile, although Apple has yet to come out with confirmed details about the upcoming laptop lineups, speculations about the upgrades for the MacBook Air 2016 are already making their rounds online. Rumor has it that the new laptop will get significant upgrades in this release cycle. This is already expected, as according to TechRadar, the MacBook Air lineup has been waiting for a major overhaul for more than eight years.

The supposed improvements for the 2016 MacBook Air include the new Intel Kaby Lake, a seventh-generation Intel processor, and a major boost in terms of RAM and storage configurations. New features will likely include Siri, as the digital assistant will reportedly be incorporated in the new macOS Sierra. Design-wise, the new laptop is likely to be made thinner and lighter, with the adoption of USB Type-C ports. It remains to be seen if Apple will also ditch the standard headphone jack, much like what it had done with the iPhone 7.
