Los Angeles Lakers news 2015: Julius Randle plays through toe injury and finishes big

Julius Randle was originally listed as probable but it appears that it will take more than a sore toe to stop the Los Angeles Lakers power forward.

Randle, apparently, played through pain and throughout the game was obviously bothered by an earlier reported sore toe. Despite that, he finished with a double-double performance against the Portland Trail Blazers with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Randle missed several opportunities at the rim but mustered just enough to provide the Lakers some needed help up front. Unfortunately, his valiant effort playing through pain still wasn't enough as the Lakers fell yet again, 107–93.

The sophomore, who is technically playing this season as a rookie since he only played 15 minutes in his maiden season, is bent on proving his worth and, of course, helping the Lakers. He is considered one of the future stars of the franchise and, apparently, he is putting in extra work to help develop his game.

Despite the efforts, Randle has been expectedly inconsistent given that he is just practically dipping his feet into pro ball. Nevertheless, he has shown promise and may evolve into one of the league's premier forward given more time.

His game against the Blazers was considered another off night, although one could only imagine what Randle could deliver if he were playing 100% and having a good night.

Right now, he has a good NBA career ahead and, hopefully, he lives up to the hype of being among the future hopes of the Lakers franchise.

He may be hurting, but at least he is able to play. Last season, his broken leg sidelined him for the entire season. He was only able to come back in the offseason; but considering the seriousness of his injury, it's impressive that he was able to return to playing after all.

Randle is just starting to get himself accustomed to the NBA brand of ball. Given more time, expect him to show why he was among the favorites in the 2014 NBA Draft.
